MS Research Australia Vacation Scholarships

Aim: These scholarships are granted to undergraduate students of an Australian University. It is expected that the successful applicants will work on a research project supervised and managed by an established MS researcher. Please email for assistance in contacting research supervisors.
Funding Details: The scholarship is for salary over a 10 week period undertaken during semester breaks. Scholarships will be granted for up to $10,000.
Eligibility: Applicants must be undergraduates at an Australian university or medical institute and be citizens or permanent residents of Australia or New Zealand. Refer to application form for details.

MS Research Australia Postgraduate Scholarships

Aim: These scholarships are granted to students who plan to undertake a PhD or are currently undertaking a PhD at an Australian university. Your PhD will be focused on improving our understanding of the biomedical causes of MS or improving the ongoing management of MS.
Funding Details: The scholarship stipend is $27,200 per annum for up to three years.
Eligibility: Applicants will have completed or entered into an Australian Honours program at the time of application and be citizens or permanent residents of Australia or New Zealand. Residency criteria must be satisfied. Refer to application form for details.

Important note: Applicants are encouraged to also apply for MS Research Australia - NHMRC Scholarship funding below in order to maximise the chances of receiving funding. Please note there is no automatic routing of applications between MS Research Australia and the NHMRC and separate applications are necessary. If you complete a MS Research Australia Postgraduate Scholarship application form, you will also automatically be considered for a Trish MS Research Foundation Scholarship, MS Research Australia will liaise with the Trish MS Research Foundation if your application is successful.

MS Research Australia / NHMRC Betty Cuthbert Scholarships

Aim: These scholarships support outstanding health, medical and dental graduates early in their career so that they can be trained to conduct research that is internationally competitive and to develop a capacity for original independent research within Australia. This is achieved by funding successful applicants to attain a research-focused postgraduate degree - a Doctor of Philosophy or a Masters degree. The postgraduate degree will be focused on improving our understanding of the biomedical causes of MS or improving the ongoing management of MS.
Funding Details: Applicants should refer to the NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarships Funding Rules for stipend rates and allowances.
Eligibility: You must submit separate applications to NHMRC and MS Research Australia in order to be considered for a possible co-funding opportunity with NHMRC. It is expected that you will already be engaged with a supervisor and be part of an Australian Postgraduate Institution or Medical Institute and be citizens or permanent residents of Australia or New Zealand. Applicants should refer to the NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship Funding Rules for eligibility requirements.
Deadline: (1) NHMRC applications open 30 April 2014 and close 25 June 2014 (select “Co-Funding” and "MS Research Australia” as the co-funding organisation within RGMS as part of your application). (2) MS Research Australia applications close 24 July 2014.

Important note: All scholarship applicants who have selected MS Research Australia may be considered for a Betty Cuthbert Postgraduate Scholarship if a separate application is made to the NHMRC for Postgraduate Scholarship Funding. There is no automatic routing of applications between MS Research Australia and the NHMRC so applications to both must be completed. See above for closing dates.

Trish MS Research Foundation / Betty Cuthbert Postgraduate Scholarship

Aim: MS Research Australia will advise the Trish MS Research Foundation on the best candidates.
Funding Details: Scholarships will be given for $27,200 a year for up to three years. 
Eligibility: Applicants will have completed or entered into an Australian Honours program at the time of application. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia and New Zealand and be a part of an Australian Postgraduate program.
Deadline: Applications close 24 July 2014

Important Note: All MS Research Australia Postgraduate Scholarship applicants will automatically be considered for a Trish MS Research Foundation Scholarship, MS Research Australia will liaise with the Trish MS Research Foundation if your application is successful.
