MSRA Vacation Scholarships

Aim: These scholarships are granted to undergraduate students of an Australian University. Residency criteria must be satisfied. Refer to application form for details. It is expected that the successful applicants will work on a research project supervised and managed by an established MS researcher. Please contact grants@msra.org.au for assistance in contacting research personnel. The scholarship is for a 10 week period undertaken during semester breaks. Scholarships will be granted for up to $10,000.
Eligibility: All applicants must be undergraduates at an Australian university or medical institute.

MSRA Postgraduate Scholarships

Aim: These scholarships are granted to students who plan to undertake a PhD or are currently undertaking a PhD at an Australian university. Residency criteria must be satisfied. Refer to application form for details. Your PhD will be focused on improving our understanding of the biomedical causes of MS or improving the ongoing management of MS. The scholarship stipend is $27,200 per annum for up to three years. If you complete a MSRA Postgraduate Scholarship MSRA you will automatically be considered for a Trish Foundation Scholarship.
Eligibility: Successful applicants will have already qualified for Honours.

Important note: These scholarships can also, and are encouraged to, be sought in conjunction with NHMRC Betty Cuthbert Scholarships in order to maximise your chances of receiving funding.

MSRA / NHMRC Betty Cuthbert Scholarships

Aim: These scholarships are granted to students who plan to undertake a PhD. Your PhD will be focused on improving our understanding of the biomedical causes of MS or improving the ongoing management of MS. It is expected that you will already be engaged with a supervisor and be part of an Australian Post Graduate Institution or Medical Institute and be able to satisfy residential criteria. The stipend is $27,200 per annum for up to three years.
Eligibility: You must submit separate applications to NHMRC and MSRA in order to be considered for a possible co-funding opportunity with NHMRC.
Deadline: (1) NHMRC applications closing date - TBA (select “Co-Funding” or “Betty Cuthbert”). (2) MSRA applications close 6 August 2013.

MSRA Postgraduate Scholarship applicants will automatically be considered for a Betty Cuthbert Postgraduate scholarship. However in order to be considered for a possible co-funding opportunity you must also complete an application to NHMRC as well (NHMRC applications closing date - TBA).

Trish Foundation / Betty Cuthbert Postgraduate Scholarship

Aim: MSRA will advise the Trish MS Research Foundation on the best candidates, with particular emphasis placed on opportunities attracting matching funds. Scholarships will be given for $27,200 a year for up to three years. Applicants must satisfy a residency criteria and be apart of an Australian Postgraduate program.
Eligibility: These students will have qualified for Honours and have a supervisor, entering their Honours year.
